Checking out the Carmarthenshire Trig points. It would seem there are over 100 so this could take some time. . . .

Carmel - number S2283

Carmel trig point.

Carmel trig point alongside radio mast.

A nice footpath leads from the B4297 right up to the trig-point across open ground with heather, gorse and plenty of birdsong in the spring. Although I believe you can also drive to it along a gravel road as there is a radio mast alongside.

Mynydd Llanfihangel Rhos-y-corn - number S2528

Peace monument and trig point on Mynydd Llanfihangel rhos-y-corn.

The trig point at the top of Mynydd Llanfihangel Rhos-y-corn is interesting for a number of reasons. Firstly it lies alongside a Peace Monument constructed by Brian Denman, secondly it is about the easiest to get to as you can nearly drive to it. And also it has perhaps the longest name for a location among the Carmarthenshire trig points

Grid Reference:   SN 50221 35469
Access: On mountain top alongside main road.

Access: On Farmland about 200m from road and just visible.

Argaerhyg - number: S2000

One of the most elegant trig points in Carmarthenshire is Argaerhyg just north of Llanon. It stands high above a private driveway on its own constructed mound complete with purpose built stone wall.

Access:   On a private drive but clearly visible from the road.

Tair Carn Isaf number S2130

Trig point on Tair Carn Isaf with the burial cairns on Tair Carn Uchaf
in the distance

The trig point is located on the Black Mountain above Glanamman and there is a gradual track from a car-park just to the south of it. Tair Carn Isaf and Tair Carn Uchaf are famous for a series of burial cairns on their hilltops. Stunning scenery!

Mynydd Llangyndeyrn number S1997

Bronze-age ring barrow on Mynydd Llangyndeyrn with trig point S1997 in background.
Mynydd Llangyndeyrn trig point.

Historically interesting with neolithic and bronze-age burial monuments in the near vicinity. In fact the trig point tower itself  is built on top of the remains of a bronze-age round barrow.

Location:  SN 48236 13289
Access: On mountain top alongside right of way.

Garreg Lwyd (Moel Gornach) - number 5314

High on the Brecon Beacons with excellent views towards Gower and the Loughor Estuary as well as towards the Presceli Hills. A medium gradiant walk from car-park but well worth it. Carmarthenshire's highest trig point at 616m.

Grid reference:  SN 74022 17924
Access:   On mountain top alongside right of way.
Altitude:   616 metres.
